Here's a really nice car and trailer that's easy to make and durable.

Car & Trailer.
This sturdy litle car is made from 2 x 4 scraps and dowels. This item is so simple, I think it does NOT need any explanation. Simply download the drawiwngs and get going.
The first page shows all the parts in ½ scale while the last two are full scale drawings.
These plans are created in Adobe Acrobat Reader (.pdf) files.

Construction Tips:

When drilling pilot holes for the axles, make sure the block of wood is true and plumb or the axles will not fit properly.
When drilling the wheel wells, clamp a scrap piece of lumber to the bottom of the base.
Use a belt or disc sander to round off all the edges before assembly.
Use a very thin, smooth flat washer between each wheel and the body.
Wax the axle to help it turn easily.
