ROCKWELL MANUFACTURING COMPANY - A DELTACRAFT PULICATION
Was there ever a youngster that didn't love to play in the sand? This interesting project provides him with protection from the sun, seats for comfort and a storage space for all the sandbox toys. The long seat at the back of the sand pit provides a "store, worktable, sales counter" and a host of

other make-believe equipment for the young cook or baker and at the same time keeps the sand from getting out of the box. The bottom and the back should be made of ¾-inch exterior plywood. The awning supports may be made from old ½-inch pipe or ¾-inch broom handles if dowel rod is not available. The roof is covered with slate coated roofng paper and should be bent only when it is hot to avoid cracking along the ridge. Should this happen a narrow strip about 6-inches wide can be tacked along the ridge for a cap and allowed to sort of roll over the ridge rather than to make a sharp bend.
The project can be painted in gay colors or made to match the house to suit your own fancy. |
