Building My Layout

I have pictues of my layout HERE.
All of you seasoned modelers know that your original ideas, and plans, always continiue to
change, go away, come back, spin around and get sidetracked.
I managed to whittle down my 'home project list' to the point I was ready to start workirng on my layout
when I purchased my new 3D printer, opening up a huge new arena of ideas and possibilities!
Naturally, the new 'toy' required a learning curve to master.
After several 'other' projects, I zeroed in on my trains.

The first big project was to replicate the house I grew up in.
My father closed in the left side of the porch for my sister's bedroom after this picture.

I used my old CAD program to create a 3D drawing of the house, including the interior.

The interior.

I even printed up all the furniture and appliances.

I couldn't leave out the pool and pump house.

I'll add more pics once it's installed into the layout.
My next custom building was to replicate the hobby shop my father opened in his home town of
Shenandoah, PA.
I have 2 old pics of the store so I thought I could kit bash it but could not find any kits with the
same doors as in his shop so I printer them up on the 3D printer, along with a few other details.

The shop in Shenandoah, PA.

My custon project (before cleaning up).
I'll add pics once it's on the layout.
I also found several places to download STL (3D print) files for HO scale items.
My favorites are Cults, Thingiverse, All 3DP and Printables where you can find a lot of free files.

One of the handiest items I found was a crafter's vice.
I was surprised at just how smooth the feed is
It's great for holding those small items when you need more than 2 hands.

I found a lot of random tree stumps, loose limbs and gnarly dead trees to print.
These will help with ground clutter.

I'll try to keep current of my progress here.
