Hack #40 Pantry Drawers with metal slides.
Luc Coulombe, a member of the GD 22MLE Facebook page, posted this mod utilizing metal slides for pull-out pantry shelves.
Here’s a quick list of material and dimensions for each drawer:
I used 1/2″ Baltic Birch for all the lumber needed.
2x 33-3/4″ long x3-1/2″ wide (For fastening slide drawers inside cabinet, you’ll need to cut a couple of 3/4″x3/4″ notches in the corners. Screws at 3/8″ from the sides of cabinet.
At the back of each slide, you’ll need a piece of wood (same thickness and same width of slides) for the drawer to ride on.
1x 33″ long x 10 3/8″ wide for drawer bottom.
1 pair of 24″ drawer slides (any hardware store has them).
Be sure to use heavy duty slides as the contents can get quite heavy.
4x double reversible corners
2x side extensions.
Attach the rails to the bottom of the drawer to line up precisely with the rail parts already installed.
Construct the side rails and attach to the drawer base.
