Hack #29 Convenient AC outlet by table.

I found reaching down under the dinette table for an AC receptacle to be a nuisance. I decided to add an outlet under the TV for much easier access.
I purchased a 12ga extension cord, a black low profile surface mount box and a black outlet.

I cut off the female end leaving about 4′. The length is not critical as long as it is long enough to reach to the new outlet under the TV.
I carefully drilled a hole up through the bottom of the TV area and up and behind the curtain valance using a very long drill bit.

Simply pass the cut end of the wire down through the hole and through the back of the low profile outlet.
Secure the back of the low profile outlet in place.

Next, strip the wires and connect them to the outlet.
Now, install the outlet into the low profile box and attach the cover plate.

Finally, simply plug the cord into the outlet where you plug your TV in.
This is really just a very handy – fancy extension cord.
