Hack #23 Inside Storage for 2 Bikes.
We wanted a way to store our bikes inside the trailer to avoid issues over where to attach a rack and to avoid road grime. There’s enough attached to the rear bumper (since I added the grill mount) and too little space between the tow vehicle and the trailer.
Here’s my solution for a way to carry them inside and avoid a lot of movement from bouncing around.
First. I must inform you that this means you cannot get to the bathroom when the bikes are stored AND the slide is closed all the way. However, you can still get the the bathroom if an urgent need arises. Simply open the slide about a foot or so (depending on your size and agility) then slide the rack over to clear a path to the bathroom – and close the slide back before heading out again.
Second, taking your bikes in and out of the trailer is not the easiest task but not much worse than using any other bike rack.
The plans are quite specific to the GD XLS 22MLE but could easily be altered for most other RV.s
