Hack #17 Back-up Cam Display Mount.

So…..
You got a backup camera system and none of the mounting hardware/adapters is just right for where you would like to mount the display.
Here’s my solution for that in my vehicle and with my system. My Rohent Backup camera system came with several mounting bases but none of them made any sense for where I would like it. We already have a pop-up screen on the Dash of our Audi Q7 Quatro 3.0 SUV so I tried a simple rubber band around them both to place it in front but the display retracts every time you turn the car off letting the backup display fall. I looked over the bases and wondered if I could mod one to fit in a good location when I noticed the big one that kind of looked like a big fan blade.
After checking clearances on my AC/heating vent, if though I might be able to slip it into the bottom vent and have it stay in place.

I cut the center ‘blades’ back leaving only about ½”. I then cut the 2 blades to either side to line up with these and removed the outer blades to allow for clearance from the dash.

I proceeded to bend the remaining tips of the cut tabs up a bout ¼”. I filed them off and smoothed them to eliminate any sharp or rough edges (to protect the plastic vents in the car) and took it for a test fit.

I tilt the display up and back to allow the bent up tabs to slip into the vent louvers and then it hangs there quite nicely. We have even traveled some rather bumpy roads and it has performed perfectly.

The screen is positioned so that it is easy to glance at and even stays in my peripheral vision all the time.
