Hack #6 Kitchen Trash Can.
We searched for a trash can that would not be in the way yet one that held more than a handful of trash. We never found anything to fit the need but Sandi did find one she liked and ordered it.
She really liked it but was still wishing it held more. I looked at it and figured I could double its capacity so we ordered a second one.
When the second can arrives, I took it to my workshop and neatly sawed the bottom off with my band saw.
I then attached the whole can to the bottom. I positioned the upper can inside the lower one with about a 1″ overlap and drilled a hole through both pieces in the center of the front.
I then spread a line of Clear Silicone Caulk on the top can to serve as an adhesive, positioned it back in place and installed a rivet through the hole to secure the 2 cans together.
I drilled holes on both sides of the first and installed rivets through each then did the same in the center of the back.
The new can gives us 2 gallons of space now. I mounted it to the between the sink and the stove where it is convenient yet out of the way.
