Many times you have requested
plans for a kiddie car such as presented here.
The entire job should be made from hardwood such
as birch or maple. The seat and main part of the
body is 3/4" solid lumber. The front
sprocket is turned on the lathe in two parts from
1-3/4" square stock. The bottom section of
the sprocket is left square and after turning the
upper dowel section in the lathe the bottom
section of this piece is bandsawed out to receive
the front wheel and axle. The upper section is
turned on the lathe and drilled to fit the dowel
as shown in the drawing on the following page.
All wheels are held on the axle with dowel pins
as shown in the detailed drawing. The finish may
be natural with bright enamel wheels and handle
or use your own ideas. All edges should be sanded
off round to prevent injury to the children. |
